Reproducible research in signal and image processing
Good practices in writing, coding and data management
Groupe de travail GdR IASIS, CNRS – 2026-2028
Goals
A hands-on introduction to reproducible research in signal and image processing
- Raising awareness among the signal and image community about the importance of reproducibility
- Presenting key tools and resources for reproducible research (see prospective program below)
- Propose basic templates and guides tailored for the researcher in signal and image processing
- Prepare future Ph.D. graduates for their professional integration in academia or in industry
This initiative builds on the actions led by the GdR IASIS and GRETSI to promote reproducible research, including the “Reproducible Research” label for the GRETSI 2025 conference.
Prospective Program Content
- Version control with Git and associated platforms, such as GitHub or GitLab;
- Dependency management for Python: Poetry, uv, and the importance of virtual environments;
- Data repositories, such as Zenodo, Nakala or Software Heritage.
- Sharing best practices for development and documentation.
- Reproducibility in the generative AI era.
- Keynotes by researchers from academia and industry.
Working Group Format and Organization
We expect a call for participant in Fall 2026, for a start date in the first semester of 2027. The working group will articulate between keynotes sessions and practical sessions. Sessions are expected to be in-person, in Paris downtown. As a final product, the participants will be asked to make some of their personal work reproducible.
Animation
The working group is proposed and animated by (in alphabetic order):
- Rémi Bardenet (CRIStAL, Lille)
- Julien Flamant (CRAN, Nancy)
- Ammar Mian (LISTIC, Annecy)
- Yassine Mhiri (LISTIC, Annecy)
- Barbara Pascal (LS2N, Nantes)
